It’s Childs Play!

13 11 2016

Whenever there has been a birth in the family, the talks that did the rounds were around the child’s future. A Child born in a Doctors family is bound to be a Doctor and a child in an Engineer family, an engineer.

While its true of the child being influenced by its surroundings, the situation today is far different that what they appear. With the world literally becoming a global village, couples practicing different vocations and expertise, no longer impose their thoughts on their kids.

However with both the parents at work there are challenges galore. Staying in a nuclear family too hasn’t helped. Kids today seek the solace of gadgets rather than the warmth of their parents or grand parents. All one finds are the tantrums they throw at parents when they want something. It’s nothing short than holding parents at ransom, Emotional blackmail if I could say so.

Although the list is endless and one can discuss and list down how one kid is more innovative than the other, the real challenge is to address the issue Headon. One needs to address and acknowledge the issue at hand. Post that, it’s a cake walk. While all of us are busy at work trying hard to give a better life for our little ones, we need to understand their needs are completely different. While we want to shower them with gadgets, all they seek infact is your company and your time. While you were busy scouting for the best school or college for admission, all they seek is the visit to the nearest science exhibition or for that matter a walk or an informative discussion over dinner rather than the drab and endless political debates.

On a serious note: When was the last time you and your family went out for a brain stimulating evening? When was the last time that you felt like being a child yourself? When was the last time you took pains to answer your child’s query by seeking first hand info rather than disturb Google god?

Our children need no returns on investments! They need your time invested on them. It’s high time we realise this fact for they seek only happiness, a good learning and upbringing (education) which helps them to dream to propel themselves closer to their aspirations. No point wasting time running behind investment schemes and insurance, rather concentrate on your core competences. And that competancy is to start concentrating on your children, for everthing in financial planning, one doesn’t need to look outward but simply scroll down.

Happy Parenting.
