“Haathon ki lakiron pe mat ja re “Ghalib” naseeb unke bhi hote hai jinke haath nahi hotey” (palm lines aren’t indicative of one’s destiny, coz destiny belongs to those who don’t have hands too)

Destiny has never been the privilege of a few. It has been my destiny to have been born in this great vibrant Nation called “India”.

Where else would I encounter a different language every 30 odd kms of travel, a land where mahatma’s and moulvi’s co exist. A land where every mom serves love, albeit with a different taste and relationships strengthened on a thin thread of love and bonding.

A place where a huge steel factory is dwarfed by the lush green farm fields. A farmer who travels in a sedan and yet toils in the field. Where the formally dressed executive boils inside the ever so crowded local train.

A place, where school is a place of worship and religious places themselves turning into treasure troves. A place if visited in its entirety, one wouldn’t need to see the globe again.

A place where Doctors are placed next to God and larger than life actors do what God’s just couldn’t. A land where handcart, passenger buses brush shoulder to shoulder with a bicycle and a limouzine, a place where even milk and food grains are transported via bullock carts and yet one dines in the upmarket malls in the cities.

Where, overcoming matriculation was a celebration and now seeking venture capital is deemed important than seeking admission.

While a lot of dark spots can be written, enjoying my moments of glory is what I have never forgotten. Negativity gets diluted in the sugary liquid of happiness, I know for sure.

Umpteenth astrologers want to lay their hands on my palm, and few tell me, to be in hiding applying balm, one seldom knows what lies in between those lines, for I know what holds my integrity, will always work fine.

Some say lines if deeper are better, some say straight, Few others look for those knots and some for clear spots. While deeper lines drive us to develop deep meaningful relationships, straight lines should be indicative of one’s focus and learning forever. Clear lines tell us to imbibe clarity in one’s conscience, knots help us tide over difficult times with utmost caution.

I don’t claim to be an expert to judge anyone just by their palm lines, I can definately say with confidence, palms raised in unison conveys us just one finer point.

A message of being blessed and a privilege to be born on this land called INDIA. It’s imperative for me to do something for her. For the DESTINY of my motherland lies not in the lines of my palms, it lies in what I do for her, and do it to the best of my abilities.

It’s now time to pledge, to do the best that I can and I am sure you will too, if given a chance.

INDIA’S destiny lies in our hands. Now’s the time for us to understand.

Let’s rise and shine and write our DESTINY!

Jai Hind.
